This Privacy Policy explains how the Arnauti mobile application (“the App”) handles information when you use it. By using the App, you agree to this policy.
- Summary
• We do not require an account or login. • Most of your preferences stay on your device. • Location is used only for Qibla and is not uploaded to our servers. • Notifications are scheduled locally on your device (not remote push marketing). • We do not sell your personal data.
- Who we are
Arnauti is provided by Xhamia Hoxhë Abdulkadër Arnauti, a mosque community in Skopje, North Macedonia. The App offers prayer times, Qibla direction, adhkar, reminders, videos, Quran access, mosque information, and links to our website (including donation pages hosted on arnauti.org).
- Information we process
3.1 Information stored on your device
The App stores the following locally (for example via on-device storage and the system notification center):
• Selected city — to show prayer times and schedule prayer alerts for that city • Language and theme — to display the App in your preferred language and appearance • Prayer notification preferences — to enable or disable alerts for each prayer • Personal reminders — title, optional notes, date/time, and repeat settings you create • Adhkar progress — to remember your daily adhkar counts • Widget prayer data (if used) — to show prayer times on the home-screen widget
This information stays on your device unless you choose to share something yourself (for example by taking a screenshot or using OS backup).
3.2 Location
If you open Qibla and grant permission, the App reads your device’s approximate or precise location only to calculate the Qibla direction (and related on-device compass features).
• Location is processed on the device. • We do not send your GPS coordinates to our servers. • You can deny or revoke location access in system Settings; Qibla will then be limited, but other features continue to work. • Prayer times use a city you select, not continuous GPS tracking.
3.3 Notifications
If you allow notifications, the App schedules local alerts for:
• Selected prayer times for your city • Personal reminders you create
We do not use these permissions to send remote marketing push notifications from our servers, and we do not collect Expo/device push tokens for that purpose in the App.
3.4 Information we do not collect in the App
The App does not ask for or collect:
• Name, email, or password (no accounts) • Contacts, photos, microphone, or camera access • Payment card details inside the App • Advertising identifiers for ad targeting • Analytics or crash-reporting profiles from third-party SDKs in the App codebase
- Internet features and third parties
When you use certain features, your device may contact third-party services. Those services have their own privacy policies:
• Videos — YouTube (public video feed/thumbnails; opening a video uses YouTube) • Projects list — arnauti.org (public project content) • Donations and website — arnauti.org (opens in Safari / system browser; any donation or form data is handled on the website, not inside the App checkout) • Quran — quran.com (in-app browser/WebView; content and any cookies/storage are governed by quran.com) • Mosque map — Google Maps (opens a search for the mosque address, not your live location) • App updates — Expo Updates, if enabled for your build (the App may check for updates)
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites or apps you open from Arnauti. Please review their policies before providing personal information (for example when donating on arnauti.org).
- Children
The App is a general-audience mosque companion. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through our website or other channels, contact us using the details below.
- Data retention and deletion
• On-device App data remains until you clear App data, uninstall the App, or reset related settings. • Uninstalling the App removes locally stored App preferences and cancels locally scheduled notifications managed by the App. • Because we do not run user accounts in the App, there is no online App profile to delete. • Data you submit on arnauti.org (for example donation forms) is subject to that website’s practices and retention.
- Security
We design the App so that sensitive preferences and location for Qibla remain on your device. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure; please keep your device locked and updated.
- Your choices
You can:
• Change or revoke location and notification permissions in system Settings • Change city, language, theme, and reminder content inside the App • Delete personal reminders in the App • Uninstall the App at any time • Contact us with privacy questions using the details below
For European / GDPR-style rights (access, correction, deletion, objection) regarding data we control on our website or other channels, contact us. For data that exists only on your device, use the App controls or uninstall.
- International use
The App is offered primarily for the mosque community in North Macedonia and nearby users. If you use the App from another country, on-device processing still occurs on your device; third-party sites you open may process data in other regions under their policies.
- Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy. Material changes may also be noted on https://arnauti.org/.
